specialty spanish

Hi, I’m Jamie and I teach high school Spanish. I write this blog to help other Spanish teachers maintain balance between work and life by providing tips, tricks, ideas and resources that they need for school.

You’re in the right place if:

-you need help with creating engaging lessons to make both you and your students excited about Spanish class each day.

-you’re looking for ways to find better work-life balance.

-you love FREE teaching materials (check out my FREE resource library!)

-you have questions about teaching Spanish One through AP Spanish.

Why am I qualified to help? Well, I am really good at working efficiently! Especially after my kids were born, I not only wanted, but needed to take less work home. I didn’t have the time or energy to get as much done after school hours as I did before. But I’m one of those people… if I’m going to do something, I want to do it well. I was feeling stressed, burned out, and like I was failing at being a mom and a good teacher! I had to make some changes.

This blog is designed to help other teachers be excellent at their craft while still having the time and energy to invest in themselves and whatever brings them joy outside of the classroom.

I have been teaching for 23 years now, and it’s hard to believe! I have always been at the same school and I’ve only moved classrooms once! Over the years, I have learned so much from my colleagues and my students. And I have adapted my practices to ensure I can get the most out of my school day. I never feel the panic of not being ready, I have time to be creative and make engaging activities for my students, I’m happy with my lesson plans, and I can go home to enjoy my family and pursue the other things that are important to me!

Here are a few things that bring me joy outside of the classroom!

  1. I have traveled a lot, but I’ve been to Spain…. 10 or more times… I’ve lost count!
  2. I’m a recovering Type A.
  3. I’m a language nerd! I have studied French and Latin in addition to Spanish.
  4. I love love to read.
  5. I started training in Taekwondo 5 years ago at age 40! My kids are both higher rank than me!
